SOUTH COAST CUSTOMS (UK) Ltd
Q&A

Questions and Answers

Q.        Who is South Coast Customs (UK) Ltd?

A.        South Coast Customs (UK) Ltd (SCC) is a privately owned Ltd company, which was specifically formed in 2005 to specialise in the importation and the selling of Custom Built Motorcycles from the USA, specifically Proper Chopper motorcycles

Q.        Are SCC bikes built in the UK or USA?

A.       No they are not built in the UK, but in the USA. They are shipped from the USA as complete bikes, they are NOT shipped in parts and assembled here. Proper Choppers are fully built in the USA and shipped to the UK complete

Q.        What style of bikes does SCC Offer?

A.         We offer four styles of bike; Pro-street, Chopper and Bobber Old School and Bobber Retro. All are available in either a Hard-tail or Soft-tail versions

Q.        Are these kit bikes?

A.     This is now a choice from Proper Chopper, their bikes will be available in a kit bike form or as a full productin bike, which are manufactured from tried and tested parts and are professionally assembled in the U.S.A.

Q.        Is SCC a bike builder as well?

A.       No, we do not build bikes ourselves and we do not profess to be a bike builders or bike assemblers.

Q.        What are the specifications of the bikes?

A.       Each bike has different specifications please contact us and request information, email us at: sales@southcoastcustoms.co.uk

Q.        Can I view actual bikes somewhere, apart from the Web Site?

A.       We are essentially an internet based distributor and do not have a premises (see why later). Our bikes can be seen from time to time at certain re-sellers premises and at shows. However, we normally have 2 or 3 bikes at anyone time in the UK which you can come and view by appointment, just call Nigel on 023 8081 3699.

Q.        Can I test ride any bikes?

A.       Sorry no, we decided that the cost of providing a facility of test riding was not worth the added expense which YOU the customer ultimately pay for. If we provided a line up of new bikes for free test rides would require us to tie up £80,000.00 in bikes (one of each model) and have an expensive insurance, which you the customer would end up having to pay for somewhere in the price of a bike purchased. Most genuine buyers of custom motorcycles are experienced riders and know whether they want a custom bike or not.

Q.        What about UK requirements (MOT’s etc)?

A.       The bikes we sell are brand new registered motorcycles. They are sold with a full MSVA approval (Motorcycle Single Vehicle Assessed) and therefore meet the UK requirements. Each bike does not require an MOT for the first three years. After the third year, any qualified Motorcycle Mechanic will be able to carry out an appropriate MOT.

Q.        Where can I buy a bike from?

A.       You can purchase your bike direct from us.

Q.        Do the bikes come with warranties?

A.       Yes, all new bikes come with a full 12-month, unlimited mileage, parts and labour warranty.

Q.        What about servicing the bikes, who does that?

A.       During the warranty period (first twelve months of purchase), the servicing has to be carried out by a qualified technician and most reputable Harley Davidson and V-Twin specialists will be able to carry out the servicing for you.

Q. US $Dollar prices, can I buy in US $Dollars instead of UK£?

A.       Yes, when the US$ is weak the ‘base’ price of a Proper Chopper in the USA 'seems' less than the converted UK price (Bobbers sell in the USA from $20,995.00, Pro-Street and Choppers start at just $25,995.00). We therefore, get asked whether we can sell a bike at the US$ price? The answer; YES not a  problem. We can sell any of our bikes at their current USA $Dollar price, but to do so, the bike has to be paid for in full UPFRONT and in addition, you will need to add the other costs involved in getting the bike to the UK (Shipping Freight Costs, Import Duties, VAT, UK delivery, SVA, Registration, Warranty, Plates and Tax). To be honets, once these costs have been added it works out more or less the same price as the UK£ Price list, but if you want a bike quoted in US $Dollars, please ask

Q.        Can I get competitive insurance for SCC bikes?

A.       Yes, we can suggest companies who offers competitive rates for our bikes, or you can arrange your own cover.

Q.        Can I arrange finance for an SCC bikes?

A.       Yes, but we do not offer finance secured against a bike itself, you can however obtain a personal loan at very competitive rates. We can help in this matter, just ask.

Q.        Can I order a specific colour?

A.       Yes, any bike can have any colour combination, if you see a 240 hardtail chopper on our web site with a particular colour, but you want it on a 300RSP Pro-Street, no problem (any colour combination of one colour base and another colour flame is standard and is included in the price quoted).

Q.        Can I order a NON Standard colour, not on the web site?

A.       Yes, you can specify your own design and colours, but there is an additional charge and will be specifically quoted for. Please email us with your design and colour requirement, we will be happy to prepare a quotation for you.

A.            A bike supplied from our UK stock requires a 10% non refundable deposit. This will secure your bike. The balance is payable in cleared funds prior to collection.

B.            For a (standard) bike ordered from the USA (not in UK stock) a 25% non refundable deposit is required with order. A further 35% non refundable payment is required when the bike leaves the USA, and the balance in cleared funds is paid upon collection of the bike in the UK.

Q.        Can I have a bike delivered to me?

A.       Yes, we can deliver in the UK, but there maybe an additional charge made. Please email nigel@southcoastcustoms.co.uk for a specific quote.

Q.        Why do SCC bikes seem cheaper than other custom bikes I have looked at?

A.       Though our bikes are High End Specification motorcycles (Right Side Drive, Six-Speed Transmissions, up to 300Rear Tyre, Big S&S Engines, Hydraulic Clutch, etc), our prices are lower than other similar specification bikes and in some cases, ridiculously lower! In fact our prices are comparable with some assembled Kit Bikes! The reason is simple; our distribution costs are lower. We do not have a large premises or a high number of salaried / commission staff, all of which cost you the customer money. So by cutting out these costs, the price of the goods we sell can be lowered, we call it; ‘a proper-chopper at a proper-price’.

Q.       What do I do Now?

A.       Once you have looked at the bikes, decided on what you want, if you have anymore questions, please call us or email us and we will be happy to answer any final questions you may have. We will be happy to guide you through the simple purchase procedures. You are then on your way to owning your very own custom motorcycle.
